Platinum Earrings

My Finished platinum Earrings

Ingeborg Vandamme

I found this picture on Pinterest.
I was drawn to it immediately. The first reasoned why it caught my eye was because in the platinum project there was a category called Adventure Tourist and this would have worked perfectly.
It would be such an awesome way to move forward with my Africa's and be able to still incorporate colour.

Cupcake Thursday

The cupcakes went really well today. We made a total of R250.00.
I have created a list for the 1st years to sign and who ever wanted to take part in the fundraising put a tick down and I was very pleased with the response. Out of 17 students in 1st year 13 of them said they will be willing to help with the baking and selling of the cupcakes. From next term they will start taking part of it. The plan is to take R50.00 out of the money raised to go into the next bake sale and this way it will just carry with out anyone having to fork out money. All they have to give is there time.

Paying it Forward

Today I was so happy. One of the 1st years was having trouble getting to Tech due to financial problems. We were able to take money out of the fundraising and give it to him for Taxi fare until the end of term. Through discussing this problem with people I have also found 3 people who are willing to pay money every month towards his taxi fare which now means he can come to Tech without having to worry about that.

My 1 Earring Broke

Feeling so over this platinum project right now. My earring just broke in the last step. So now i have to spend the whole day just trying to fix it up. Why does this always happen when there is a deadline!?

Cupcakes

The first years who started the fundraising are getting frustrated with the rest of their class not taking part in the cake sales and this is making them feel despondent. So i have been trying to think about how to get everyone involved. We don't know everyone's problems they may have financial or home problems. So my solution to this is to keep r50 from each sale to contribute to the next. Then we can give the money to the students to make the cakes, and if they don't have the facilities where they live they can make them at school. I would like to implement this next term. Holding thumbs that it works.

Giveaway

I have started a competition to increase my following on facebook. I handed out pamphlets at the I heart market for people to like my facebook page which increased my following by 15 people and I have also sent out a message on facebook and in total my facebook page likes have increased by 30 people and it is still going up.

Africa Pendants

Hello pretty put my Africa pendants on their facebook page and this resulted in a sale of my Africa pendant with the heart pierced out. I also got 31 likes on the picture.

Africa Earrings

I have decided to change my platinum Neck piece design to a pair of earrings. The reason for this is because I think it would need too much platinum to reach the desired effect, I cant figure out a chain that I am completely happy with and then of course the time restraints. But I am hoping to carry on with the neck piece once I have finished the platinum project.

Sand Casting Frames

It was suggested to me that we do sand casting for the anchors, so today i learnt how to use a jigsaw which was scary at first but then i got the hang of it, think it will take some more practice to get a straight line. So these are the frames i cut out.

Cupcake Fundraising

So happy with how the fundraising went, there was an amazing response and all the Cupcakes sold out in 10 minutes. So we made R235.00.

Anchors Drawn in Rhino

I drew these out in rhino for the 1st years to pierce out. I would like them to make 2 anchors each. 1 pierced out with a mirror finish and 1 sand cast piece.

Lost

Today I am feeling so lost and over whelmed. Have a million things to do and it just doesn't feel like there is enough time in a day.
At the moment I am working on my platinum proto-type and it just feels right now that this is never going to work. I have tried to use leather cord for my neck piece but it just feels too chunky for my delicate Africa shape. So then I tried using cotton which I plated and plated and plated, but the concern with this is that it is not commercial enough seeing that the theme is commercial although I trust the cotton in terms of its strength.
I feel like maybe I have spent the whole year doing pieces which I feel would be commercially viable for the market and now that I have to do a fine jewellery piece I am really battling.
